Abstract

Subsea pipelines or offshore pipelines are one technology that can be used to assist in the mobilization of underwater hydrocarbon sources. Subsea pipelines have several installation methods. This method consists of the S-Lay method, J-Lay, Reeling, and Towing method. The most common method used in Indonesian seas is the S-Lay method. Subsea pipe installations have a risk of failure which can cause damage to the pipe. Failure during pipe installation can cause damage to the pipe installation equipment. An example of damage to installation tools that can occur is damage to the stinger roller. Therefore, further analysis is needed to calculate the stress during installation. Apart from that, damage to the stinger roller also requires a reliability analysis to find out whether the pipe will remain reliable when damage occurs to the stinger roller. The stress analysis in this final project was carried out using OFFPIPE software. In this study, the maximum stress was obtained during the failure of the stinger roller. The maximum stress occurred during the failure of stinger roller 4. Additionally, the researchers also calculated the reliability before and during the failure of the stinger roller. The lowest reliability was observed during the failure of stinger roller 4 under two conditions, namely when the stinger angle was 8.5 deg and 9 deg.
