Abstract

PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. is one of the livestock industries with strong potential to contribute to economic growth at both national and multinational levels. there is still room for improvement, particularly in the inspection procedures for the main raw material—corn kernels—which are time-consuming due to the numerous parameters, both variables and attributes, that must be inspected to ensure the conformity of the raw material quality. This research aims to evaluate and develop an inspection procedure using the Dependent Mixed Sampling Plan approach within the scope of Entrance Control. This approach enables more efficient decision-making for raw material lot acceptance. In certain cases, when the inspection results for variable parameters meet the requirements, the correlated attribute parameters will proportionally follow the sample acceptance decision. The developed sampling plan shows an optimized Producer’s Risk (α) of 3,00% and Consumer’s Risk (β) of 6,00%. Additionally, total inspection time can be optimistically reduced by up to 72,06%, accompanied by a Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) of 9,59. This improvement is achieved through the application of the semi-curtailed inspection principle and a focus on critical quality characteristics determined using Principal Component Analysis, in relation to supplier performance evaluation under normal conditions. Thus, the corn kernel receiving inspection procedure becomes more effective and can be implemented across other production facilities owned by the company facing similar challenges.
