Abstract

Sedangkan, spesimen tanpa PWHT memiliki kandungan pearlite paling sedikit, yaitu 49,45%. ====================================================================================================================================
Welding is the most common method of joining materials used in almost all branches of industry. One of the materials that is often used as the main material in welding is steel. ST60 steel is one of the steels that is widely used in the industrial world such as machinery, bridges, and other general construction. ST60 steel is also commonly used in the world of the maritime industry, especially shipping. To keep the steel welding good, we can provide heat treatment in the form of preheat carried out before welding and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) carried out after welding. This study aims to find out how heat treatment can affect the tensile strength and microstructure of ST60 steel welding using the SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) welding method. The preheat temperature used is 216°C and the PWHT temperature variation used is 300°C and 600°C. The results of this study can be obtained through tensile tests, macro structure tests, and microstructure tests. In the tensile test results, welding with PWHT 600°C has the highest average ultimate tensile strength, which is 641,37 Mpa. Meanwhile, welding without PWHT has the lowest average ultimate tensile strength, which is 613,73 Mpa. The results of microstructure observation showed that each specimen had a ferrite and pearlite structure. Specimens with PWHT 600°C had the most pearlite content, which was 68.52%. Meanwhile, specimens without PWHT have the least pearlite content, which is 49.45%.
