Abstract

The steel piling supporting Jetty-3 of PT XYZ has been equipped with coating and HDPE lining in the atmospheric zone, splash zone, and tidal zone. However, visual inspection results indicate the presence of corrosion at several points, particularly on the pile surfaces submerged in seawater. This finding highlights the need for additional protection methods to safeguard the pile sections that are not adequately protected by the existing methods. This study designs a Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP) system for 84 piles distributed across the jetty head platform, breasting dolphin, and mooring dolphin. The design focuses on technical and economic analyses of anode variations, including aluminum and zinc materials, as well as anode types such as flush mounted, stand-off, and bracelet. The anode variations were selected using the Weighted Product method. The analysis results indicate that the required number of anodes and the estimated installation costs vary depending on the specifications of each anode variation, with 84 aluminum flush-mounted anodes costing Rp1.314.000.000, 84 aluminum stand-off anodes costing Rp1.330.000.000, 84 aluminum bracelet anodes costing Rp1.343.000.000, 216 zinc flush-mounted anodes costing Rp3.480.000.000, 192 zinc stand-off anodes costing Rp3.237.000.000, and 216 zinc bracelet anodes costing Rp3.436.000.000. Based on the Weighted Product method, the aluminum flush-mounted anode variation was selected as the best option for the Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP) system for the piles of Jetty-3 at PT XYZ.
