Abstract

====================================================================================================================================
Perusahaan Lampu Jalan (PLJ) is a company that focuses in the lighting equipment industry since 2013, specializing in the production of Penerangan Jalan Umum (PJU). Currently, PLJ has grown to become a primary supplier of PJU across most regions in Indonesia through partnerships with local governments in each region. Following with the increasing
demand for PJU, PLJ has been required to fulfill all orders by operating with overtime work. To minimize overtime work, PLJ needs to improve the efficiency of its production processes in order to enhance the company’s performance in meeting higher demand and expanding its supply coverage area. To achieve this objective, this study adopts the concept of Lean Manufacturing, a philosophy that focuses on continuous improvement and aligns with the principles of Kaizen and the Toyota Production System (TPS). This research employs several methods, namely Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Process Activity Mapping (PAM) to identify waste by classifying non-value-added activities. Subsequently, the Best-Worst Method is applied to determine the most critical waste through pairwise comparisons based on production process activities observed directly in the workplace. The root causes of the critical waste are identified using the 5 Why’s Analysis method. Then, the Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) method is utilized to prioritize improvement solutions through weighted ranking.Through this approach, a selected solution design was obtained, which includes the implementation of kanban, periodic supervision, and line balancing. These improvements are estimated to increase the production efficiency of PJU by 74%, from an existing efficiency rate of 58% to 132% in the improved condition.
