Abstract

Supply chain disruptions and market uncertainty necessitate third-party logistics (3PL) companies to adopt a balanced strategy emphasizing both operational efficiency and responsiveness. The concept of Supply Chain Ambidexterity (SCX), which integrates exploration and exploitation, offers a robust strategic framework to address these challenges. However, successful SCX implementation is critically dependent on organizational readiness, particularly within the Indonesian 3PL sector. This study aims to identify prerequisite indicators essential for effective SCX implementation and to assess the SCX capability level in 3PL companies. The Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) was employed for indicator validation, while the Best-Worst Method (BWM) was applied to determine the importance weight of each indicator. The findings reveal 17 crucial indicators that significantly contribute to successful SCX implementation within the 3PL industry. The five most prominent indicators, ranked by highest weight, are SC sensing, adaptability, process optimization, regulatory compliance, and employee competency development. Furthermore, these 17 indicators were utilized to evaluate SCX capabilities at DHL UK, yielding a score of 5.52 out of 10, categorizing the company's SCX capabilities as developing/improving. These results underscore that the successful implementation of SCX extends beyond merely leveraging internal resources. Instead, it is profoundly influenced by the mastery and integration of these identified strategic indicators, which collectively underpin an organization's readiness to effectively adopt and manage the SCX strategy amidst dynamic market conditions.
