Abstract

Stunting, or chronic stunting, is a scary thing for Indonesia, with prevalence reaching 21.5% in 2023 based on data from the Indonesian Health Survey 2023. More than just a health issue, stunting is fatal to the cognitive development, physical growth, and future of the nation's children. The government, with its commitment to reduce the prevalence of stunting to 14% by 2024, has launched various programs such as Stranas Stunting, the First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK), and Supplementary Feeding (PMT). Understanding the causes of stunting will help formulate targeted interventions. This study aims to identify and analyze influences related to factors that affect the prevalence of stunting and predict the prevalence of stunting in East Nusa Tenggara Province. The data is processed using panel data regression analysis with cross-section data, namely cities/districts in East Nusa Tenggara Province and time-varying data from 2021 to 2023. By using Panel Data Regression, it was found that based on the individual effect FEM approach of seven variables, the ones that have a significant effect on the prevalence of stunting in East Nusa Tenggara toddlers are the percentage of wasting, GRDP per capita, and the percentage of poor people. These variables can explain the prevalence of stunting by 82.23% and the other 12.77% is explained by other variables outside the model.
