Abstract

This industrial internship was conducted at PT. Andri Tulungagung, a company specializing in the production of modified water pumps. The objective of the internship was to analyze the production process of a 1.5-inch water pump, from component manufacturing to final testing. The methods used included direct observation, active participation in the production process, and data collection through literature studies and discussions with field supervisors. The results of the internship revealed that the production of the 1.5-inch pump involves several key stages: manufacturing the pump discharge (turbine), coil winding, calibration, and packaging. The production process for the pump discharge includes pipe cutting, welding, turning, and finishing. Modifications to the pump involved widening the inlet (In) and outlet (Out) diameters, as well as altering the coil winding pattern to enhance power and water flow rate. Testing of the modified pump showed a water flow rate of 250 liters per minute (LPM), significantly higher than the original pump's 50 LPM, with an electrical power consumption of 175 watts and a frequency of 50 Hz.
In conclusion, the modified 1.5-inch pump demonstrates superior performance in terms of water flow rate and power, though it requires higher electrical input. Recommendations for the company include improving production equipment quality, stricter implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, and adopting more precise welding technologies such as MIG/TIG to minimize production defects.
