Abstract

Dalam era digitalisasi yang berkembang pesat, pembelajaran teknologi informasi harus membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan yang relevan untuk dunia kerja, salah satunya terkait Manajemen Proses Bisnis (MPB). Mata kuliah MPB di Departemen Sistem Informasi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (DSI ITS) dirancang untuk memberikan pemahaman menyeluruh tentang siklus hidup proses bisnis, mulai dari identifikasi hingga evaluasi proses. Namun, pemanfaatan teknik MPB di industri masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan, seperti rendahnya pemahaman terhadap manfaatnya dan belum optimalnya integrasi ke dalam praktik kerja. Studi sebelumnya juga menunjukkan adanya ketidaksesuaian antara Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, perlu dilakukan analisis terkait sejauh mana teknik-teknik MPB dapat diterapkan oleh alumni DSI ITS yang bekerja sebagai praktisi TI sehingga dapat memberikan rekomendasi kepada pengajar dan DSI ITS, serta perusahaan terkait pemanfaatan teknik MPB. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan wawancara dan survei terhadap alumni Departemen Sistem Informasi ITS yang bekerja sebagai praktisi TI. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik open coding dengan pendekatan affordance untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan kesenjangan dalam penerapan MPB. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan teknik MPB oleh praktisi TI dipengaruhi oleh pengenalan, pemahaman, serta dukungan konteks kerja yang memungkinkan penerapannya. Otomatisasi proses bisnis merupakan teknik yang paling banyak diterapkan, sedangkan teknik MPB lainnya cenderung lebih jarang digunakan karena keterbatasan peran pekerjaan, budaya organisasi, dan faktor lainnya. Berbagai faktor turut menentukan keberhasilan maupun hambatan dalam penerapan teknik MPB. Selain itu, teknik MPB juga berfungsi sebagai kompetensi jangka panjang yang dapat diaktualisasikan saat alumni menempati posisi strategis di masa depan. Penelitian ini dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai penerapan teknik MPB oleh praktisi TI dan kesenjangan antara teori yang diajarkan di perkuliahan dengan praktik di dunia pekerjaan. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga dapat memberikan rekomendasi bagi pengajar dan departemen untuk memperbaiki dan menyempurnakan MPB agar lebih relevan dengan kebutuhan industri, serta menawarkan rekomendasi praktis bagi perusahaan dalam mengoptimalkan penerapan teknik MPB di lingkungan kerja

In the era of rapid digitalization, information technology learning must equip students with relevant skills for the world of work, one of which is related to Business Process Management (BPM). The BPM course at the Department of Information Systems, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (DSI ITS) is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business process life cycle, from identification to process evaluation. However, the use of BPM techniques in industry still faces various challenges, such as a low understanding of its benefits and less than optimal integration into work practices. Previous studies also indicate a mismatch between To overcome these problems, it is necessary to analyze the extent to which BPM techniques can be applied by DSI ITS alumni who work as IT practitioners so that they can provide recommendations to lecturers and DSI ITS, as well as companies regarding the use of BPM techniques. This study uses a qualitative approach with interviews and surveys of alumni of the Department of Information Systems ITS who work as IT practitioners. Data were analyzed using open coding techniques with an affordance approach to identify patterns and gaps in BPM implementation. This study shows that the use of BPM techniques by IT practitioners is influenced by the introduction, understanding, and support of the work context that enables its implementation. Business process automation is the most widely applied technique, while other BMP techniques tend to be used less frequently due to limitations in job roles, organizational culture, and other factors. Various factors contribute to the success or obstacles in implementing BMP techniques. Furthermore, BMP techniques also function as long-term competencies that can be actualized when alumni occupy strategic positions in the future. This research can provide an understanding of the application of BMP techniques by IT practitioners and the gap between the theory taught in lectures and practice in the workplace. Furthermore, this research can also provide recommendations for lecturers and departments to improve and refine BMP to make it more relevant to industry needs, as well as offer practical recommendations for companies in optimizing the implementation of BMP techniques in the workplace
