Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the operational efficiency of distribution warehouses at PT Nusa Indah, a company in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, using a quantitative Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach with an output-oriented Technical Efficiency Variable Return to Scale (TE VRS) model. The assessment was conducted on 86 warehouse units (Decision Making Units - DMUs) in 2024 based on four input variables Warehouse Damage, 90-Day Deadstock, Picking Duration, and Truck Stay Duration and two output variables, namely Order Fulfillment Rate (OFR) and Pcs per Mandays. The DEA method was used to identify efficiently and inefficiently operating units, as well as to provide a basis for comparison through peer groups and improvement targets for units needing enhancement. The analysis results show significant variation in efficiency among units: 16 out of 38 warehouses in Java (Caringin warehouse with the lowest score of 0.8896) and 17 out of 44 warehouses in Sumatra (Medan warehouse with the lowest score of 0.7465) operate efficiently, while all four warehouses in Kalimantan are efficient. Overall, increasing the Pcs per Mandays output and reducing the Truck Stay Duration input were identified as areas with the greatest potential for improvement to achieve operational efficiency. These findings indicate the need for operational improvement strategies, more optimal resource allocation, and provide practical contributions to the formulation of distribution management policies to strengthen the company's competitiveness in the FMCG industry
