Abstract

Leachate at the Benowo landfill has the potential to pollute the environment, so it is necessary to map its distribution. This study aims to analyze the direction of leachate distribution using magnetic methods as an efficient non-invasive geophysical approach. Data acquisition was conducted at 246 points, then analyzed through daily correction, IGRF, upward continuation, and reduction to the pole (RTP). The results show prominent magnetic anomaly zones in the northern and western parts of the landfill, with RTP values ranging from 3200 to 7200 nT. Further analysis was conducted using vertical gradient transformation, analytical signal, and horizontal gradient to clarify the boundaries and positions of the anomalies suspected to be leachate. Quantitative interpretation revealed the presence of spherical and horizontal cylindrical anomalies at depths of 11–29m. This magnetic response indicates the possible accumulation of leachate containing heavy metals. These findings provide an initial overview that can serve as a basis for further geophysical interpretation in the Benowo TPA area.
