Abstract

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are widely used across various sectors due to their high efficiency, long operational lifespan, and superior speed-to-torque characteristics. The selection of stator core material plays a crucial role in determining the motor's magnetic properties, quality, and overall performance. This study aims to analyze the performance of BLDC motors using two different stator core materials, NV30S-120 and M235-35A, through simulation, prototype fabrication, and experimental testing. The research process includes a literature review, simulation using Ansys Motor-CAD, hysteresis loss testing, prototype construction, and performance evaluation. Hysteresis testing was conducted using toroidal core samples at varying frequencies of 50 Hz, 200 Hz, and 500 Hz. The motor prototypes were designed with identical specifications, differing only in the stator core material used. The results show that M235-35A exhibits superior performance compared to NV30S-120 in all tested parameters. M235-35A demonstrated lower hysteresis loss (55.46 W/kg), higher maximum rotational speed (11,820 RPM), greater peak torque (0.855 Nm), higher output power (522 W), and the highest efficiency (88.67%). This research confirms that the choice of stator core material has a significant influence on the efficiency and overall performance of BLDC motors.
