Abstract

Problem: The motorcycle industry in Indonesia continues to experience significant growth every year. From January to August 2024, motorcycle sales in Indonesia alone reached 4.34 million units. The growth in the use of two-wheeled vehicles has been accompanied by rapid technological developments in the automotive world, resulting in increasingly fierce competition in the two-wheeled vehicle market. PT XYZ, as one of the motorcycle manufacturing companies in Indonesia, continues to strive for innovation and meet consumer needs. To achieve this, one of the efforts undertaken by PT XYZ is to continuously improve the efficiency of their internal business processes to ensure the quality of their products remains consistent and can compete with their competitors. However, some internal business processes at PT XYZ still face numerous challenges, one of which is the procurement process. This process is still plagued by various obstacles that result in prolonged lead times and reduced efficiency and accuracy in inventory management.
Method: This study employs a system dynamics approach to model the complex procurement process. Two main variables used are the procurement process lead time and the procurement process efficiency. The model was developed based on actual conditions and used to simulate three improvement scenarios: process standardization, system integration, and a combination of both.
Results: The process standardization scenario increased the average process efficiency value by 4% but did not reduce the average process lead time value. The system integration scenario reduced the average process lead time by 10% and increased the average process efficiency value by 6%. The combined scenario yielded the most optimal results, with a 9% reduction in average lead time and a 9% increase in the average process efficiency value.
