Abstract

Keandalan sistem proteksi kelistrikan sangat krusial dalam mendukung operasional industri strategis, seperti Plan Smelter Nikel di Sulawesi Selatan, yang sangat bergantung pada kontinuitas pasokan listrik. Salah satu tantangan utama dalam sistem proteksi adalah penentuan nilai Time Dial Setting (TDS) pada rele arus lebih waktu invers. Proses penentuan TDS yang selama ini masih dilakukan secara manual dan berbasis trial and error berpotensi menurunkan selektivitas serta keandalan sistem, sehingga meningkatkan risiko gangguan dan kerugian operasional. Penelitian ini mengusulkan penerapan Modified Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (MAPSO) sebagai metode optimasi untuk menentukan nilai TDS secara lebih efisien dan akurat. Studi kasus dilakukan pada sistem kelistrikan Plan Smelter Nikel di Sulawesi Selatan, yang memiliki kompleksitas tinggi dan tuntutan keandalan sistem yang sangat besar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan MAPSO mampu mempercepat proses penentuan TDS, meminimalkan error Coordination Time Interval (CTI), serta menghasilkan koordinasi proteksi yang lebih optimal antar rele. Dengan demikian, penerapan MAPSO dalam penentuan TDS dapat meningkatkan keandalan, efisiensi, dan stabilitas operasional sistem kelistrikan di lingkungan industri.

The reliability of electrical protection systems is crucial to supporting the operations of strategic industries, such as the Nickel Smelter Plant in South Sulawesi, which relies heavily on continuous power supply. One of the main challenges in protection systems is determining the Time Dial Setting (TDS) value for inverse time overcurrent relays. The TDS setting process, which is still predominantly performed manually and through trial and error, can reduce system selectivity and reliability, thereby increasing the risk of disturbances and operational losses. This study proposes the application of Modified Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (MAPSO) as an optimization method to determine TDS values more efficiently and accurately. The case study was conducted on the electrical system of the Nickel Smelter Plant in South Sulawesi, which is characterized by high complexity and stringent reliability requirements. The results show that the use of MAPSO can accelerate the TDS determination process, minimize the Coordination Time Interval (CTI) error, and produce more optimal protection coordination between relays. Thus, implementing MAPSO in TDS determination can enhance the reliability, efficiency, and operational stability of industrial electrical systems.
