Abstract
Saluran transmisi memiliki peran penting dalam menyalurkan energi listrik dari pembangkit ke pusat beban. Untuk menjaga keandalannya, sistem ini dilengkapi dengan perangkat proteksi yang mampu mendeteksi dan mengisolasi gangguan. Pada saluran transmisi Malili–Lasusua di Sulawesi Bagian Selatan, proteksi utama yang digunakan adalah relai diferensial. Meskipun cukup andal dalam mendeteksi gangguan internal, relai ini tidak memberikan informasi tentang lokasi gangguan secara spesifik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi penggunaan relai jarak sebagai proteksi tambahan. Relai jarak dapat memberikan estimasi lokasi gangguan berdasarkan panjang saluran dan dibagi dalam beberapa zona kerja. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui simulasi menggunakan perangkat lunak DIgSILENT PowerFactory dengan menganalisis respons relai terhadap gangguan pada beberapa titik di sepanjang saluran. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa relai jarak mampu mendeteksi gangguan secara efektif, dan dapat menjadi pelengkap yang bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan keandalan sistem proteksi yang ada.

The Transmission lines play a key role in delivering electric power from generation to load centers. To maintain reliability, these systems are equipped with protection devices to detect and isolate faults. On the Malili–Lasusua transmission line in South Sulawesi, differential protection is used as the main relay scheme. While it is effective in detecting internal faults, it does not provide specific information about the fault location. Therefore, this study evaluates the addition of a distance relay as a supporting protection scheme. Distance relays are able to estimate fault location along the line and operate within defined protection zones. The evaluation was conducted through simulations using DIgSILENT PowerFactory, focusing on the relay’s response to faults at various points along the line. The results show that the distance relay performs effectively and can enhance the reliability of the existing protection system.
