Abstract

Pulau Kalimantan merupakan wilayah dengan curah hujan tinggi sepanjang tahun, namun masih menghadapi tantangan dalam penyediaan air bersih. Ketidakseimbangan antara intensitas curah hujan dan ketersediaan air bersih disebabkan oleh variasi kondisi geografis dan aktivitas pertambangan. Hal ini menunjukkan perlunya solusi pengelolaan air yang berkelanjutan. Salah satu pendekatan yang berpotensi diterapkan adalah sistem pemanenan air hujan (PAH) skala rumah tangga yang dapat mendukung kebutuhan air domestik sekaligus mengurangi limpasan air hujan yang menyebabkan banjir. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi kelayakan sistem PAH di lima kota di Kalimantan: Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, dan Banjarbaru. Data curah hujan harian diperoleh dari satelit TRMM, dikombinasikan dengan perhitungan kebutuhan air berdasarkan jumlah penghuni rumah, serta perancangan dan simulasi waduk dengan kedalaman yang bervariasi (1 m, 1,5 m, dan 2 m). Analisis harian dilakukan untuk menilai kemampuan sistem dalam memenuhi setidaknya 90% kebutuhan air serta potensi pengurangan limpasan air hujan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Tanjung Selor dengan kedalaman waduk 2 m dan Pontianak dengan kedalaman 1,5 m mampu memenuhi setidaknya 90% kebutuhan air domestik dengan debit 60 L/orang/hari. Palangkaraya dan Samarinda mencapai target tersebut pada debit 20 L/orang/hari dengan kedalaman 1 meter. Sementara itu, Banjarbaru belum mencapai batas tersebut dalam konfigurasi yang diuji. Dalam hal pengurangan banjir, Tanjung Selor mencatat rata-rata tertinggi sebesar 42,08%, diikuti oleh Pontianak (30,54%), Samarinda (17,64%), Banjarbaru (13,39%), dan Palangkaraya (10,15%). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem PAH memiliki potensi sebagai solusi praktis dan berkelanjutan untuk penyediaan air bersih dan pengendalian banjir di Pulau Kalimantan.

The island of Kalimantan is an island with high rainfall throughout the year, but still faces challenges in clean water supply. The imbalance between rainfall intensity and clean water availability is caused by variations in geographical conditions and mining activities. This suggests the need for sustainable water management solutions. One potential approach is the implementation of domestic scale rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems that can support domestic water needs and reduce surface runoff that causes flooding. This study evaluated the feasibility of RWH systems in five cities in Kalimantan: Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, and Banjarbaru. Daily rainfall data was obtained from the TRMM satellite, combined with the calculation of water demand based on the number of house occupants, as well as the design and simulation of reservoirs with various depths (1 m, 1.5 m, and 2 m). Daily analysis was conducted to assess the ability of the system to meet at least 90% of water demand as well as the potential for reducing rainwater runoff. Results showed that Tanjung Selor with reservoir depth of 2 m and Pontianak with 1,5 m met at least 90% of domestic water demand at a discharge of 60 L/person/day. Palangkaraya and Samarinda achieved the target at a discharge of 20 L/person/day with a depth of 1 meter. Meanwhile, Banjarbaru has not met this limit in the tested configuration. In terms of flood reduction, Tanjung Selor recorded the highest average of 42.08%, followed by Pontianak (30.54%), Samarinda (17.64%), Banjarbaru (13.39%), and Palangkaraya (10.15%). These findings suggest PAH systems have the potential to be a practical and sustainable solution for clean water supply and flood control in island of Kalimantan.
