Abstract

Petroleum is the main energy source that is very important for life, including in Indonesia which is still very dependent on petroleum even though energy diversification efforts are being promoted. In 2022, Indonesia's oil production will reach 692,000 barrels per day, but consumption will reach 1,471,000 barrels per day. The port, as a driver of the local economy, has an important component in the form of a jetty which is used for loading and unloading oil from tankers. One of the Indonesian companies operating in the oil and gas sector, built Jetty III in the Kasim Open Access Development project in West Papua. During the project implementation, it was found that the pile foundations were driven shallower than the initial design, particularly in the Mooring Dolphin, Breasting Dolphin, and Jetty Head sections. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the bearing capacity of the existing foundation to determine whether the existing deep foundation design can still be used. If the existing deep foundation design is found to be inadequate, additional piles must be installed. Furthermore, a new foundation design that is safe and efficient should be developed. After that, a material volume and cost analysis is conducted to obtain the most cost-efficient design. The evaluation results show that the existing foundation of the Jetty Head does not meet safety criteria with a safety factor of 1.69 and a pullout safety factor of 0.77, while the existing foundations of the Mooring Dolphin and Breasting Dolphin remain within safe limits, where Mooring Dolphin 1 & 2, Mooring Dolphin 3 & 4, and Breasting Dolphin 1–4 have safety factors of 3.48, 3.58, and 3.07, respectively, and pullout safety factors of 25.85, 15.5, and 5.11. In addition, the newly designed foundation not only meets the required bearing capacity where The Mooring Dolphin and Breasting Dolphin structures have configurations of 3 × 5 and 3 × 6, respectively, and the pile embedment depths for Mooring Dolphin 1 & 2, Mooring Dolphin 3 & 4, and Breasting Dolphin 1–4 are 18 m, 18 m, and 11 m, espectively, but is also more efficient, with a material cost difference of IDR 6,943,860,000.00. These results are expected to serve as a reference for the planning and implementation of similar projects in the future.
