Abstract

Digital transformation has accelerated the adoption of QR-based payment systems in Indonesia, including the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), which is integrated into e-wallets such as GoPay. Despite its growth, challenges remain regarding perceived risks, user readiness, and emotional aspects like comfort and satisfaction.
This study analyzes the influence of QRIS integration in the GoPay e-wallet on user preferences in online transactions, using the Diffusion of Innovations theory as an analytical framework. The variables tested include Adoption Readiness, Perceived Risk, Personal Innovativeness, and Hedonic Motivation toward Behavioral Intention. A survey was conducted with 281 respondents aged 18–60 who are active or potential GoPay QRIS users. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), involving both first-order and higher-order constructs.
The results show that Adoption Readiness, Personal Innovativeness, and Hedonic Motivation have a positive and significant influence on Behavioral Intention, while Perceived Risk has a negative and significant effect. In addition, Personal Innovativeness positively influences Adoption Readiness. These findings underscore the importance of user preparedness, perceived security, and enjoyable user experience in encouraging QRIS adoption.
This study provides theoretical contributions to understanding the behavioral dynamics of QR-based digital payment adoption in Indonesia and offers practical recommendations for service providers like GoPay to design more inclusive, secure, and engaging systems and features.
