Abstract

Mineral Fuel is a strategic commodity in Indonesia's exports, especially in the non-oil and gas mining sector with the largest contribution of 17.94 percent of total non-oil and gas sector exports in 2023. Panel data is used to analyze several factors affecting Indonesia's mineral fuel exports to six importing countries in Asia, namely China, Japan, India, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Philippines for the period 2014-2023. The method used is a quantitative approach with panel data regression, and supported by descriptive statistical analysis. The independent variables studied include purchasing power, international trade competitiveness, prices of substitute goods, geopolitical stability, and manufacturing contributions of importing countries taken from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, World Bank Data, and Trademap. The results showed that purchasing power did not have a significant effect on Indonesia's mineral fuel exports but other variables were shown to have a significant effect. This is because the spending ability of people in importing countries does not directly affect the demand for mineral fuels because it does not become direct public consumption but as an input to the manufacturing industry. In contrast, the variables of competitiveness, substitution price, geopolitical stability, and manufacturing contribution have a direct relationship with mineral fuel demand. This research is expected to enrich the science of energy exports and be able to provide empirical contributions for data-based export policy formulators, especially in strengthening Indonesia's competitiveness in the global energy market.
