Abstract

The development of blockchain technology has brought significant changes to the world of digital assets through the emergence of Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs). However, most NFTs today are tied to specific blockchains such as Ethereum, which limits flexibility and the global potential of NFT markets. This limitation becomes a major obstacle in developing a broader NFT ecosystem. This research discusses the development of omnichain-based NFT interoperability using smart contracts that enable NFTs to be transferred between blockchains without losing their original identity and ownership. The research methodology implements a smart contract using the LayerZero protocol. System testing was conducted on three testnet networks compatible with LayerZero, namely Ethereum Sepolia, Arbitrum Sepolia, and Binance Smart Chain Testnet. The research results show that the smart contract can perform NFT transfers between blockchains (Ethereum Sepolia, Arbitrum Sepolia, and Binance Smart Chain Testnet) automatically, securely, and seamlessly. This implementation proves to expand the utility of NFTs across various blockchains.
