Abstract

Conventional paint methods for vessel plates have shortcomings in terms of quality, human failure, and production waste that pollute the environment. Although paint technology is constantly evolving, specific applications for ship plates are still very limited. The research developed the Eco-Automated Paint Spray Machine to support green shipyard applications by reducing environmental pollution from production waste, especially waste that flows freely in the air. To determine machine efficiency, performance assessments are performed in a variety of operating situations. Paint results are compared between conventional and automated processes based on swing stroke and time efficiency. The results show that the swing step data and painting time on the automatic paint machine data have values that are not far adrift between each experiment. This shows that the automatic spray machine has a better painting process consistency than the conventional method. In addition, the use of these machines significantly reduces the residues of paint that pollute the environment, which is in line with the green shipyard principle. The implementation of the Eco-Automated Paint Spray Machine is expected to be a reference for the development of automated paint technology.
