Abstract
Musik tidak hanya berperan sebagai pengiring ibadat dalam Gereja Katolik, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk mengagungkan Nama Tuhan sehingga bangunan gereja perlu memiliki karakteristik akustik yang mendukung peribadatan. Gereja Katolik di Indonesia belum ada standar karakteristik akustik untuk bangunan gereja sehingga pada Gereja Gembala Baik Batu perlu dikaji serta dibuat rancangan interior baru dengan penekanan kenyamanan akustik untuk meningkatkan kualitas peribadatan umat Katolik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking untuk memecahkan masalah melalui lima tahap, yaitu empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Hasil rancangan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dalam nilai parameter akustik, terutama pada waktu dengung, kejelasan suara (clarity), dan speech transmission index (STI). Selain itu, juga terdapat peningkatan kualitas peribadatan lain, seperti visual dan suasana, fasilitas, dan sebagainya dalam rancangan interior yang baru, terutama dengan pemberian treatment pencahayaan pada area altar dan panti imam. Rancangan desain interior Gereja Katolik Gembala Baik Batu dengan penekanan kenyamanan akustik dapat dicapai dengan menggunakan material-material yang tidak sepenuhnya kedap suara sekaligus didukung dengan penempatan titik speaker yang efisien. Di lain sisi, rancangan desain interior ini juga berhasil meningkatkan kualitas peribadatan dalam aspek fasilitas dan estetika berdasarkan uji validasi desain menggunakan kuesioner kepada masyarakat yang beragama Katolik.

Music serves a dual function in the Catholic Church: as an accompaniment to worship and as a means to glorify the Name of God. Consequently, church buildings must possess acoustic characteristics that facilitate worship. The acoustic characteristics of Catholic churches in Indonesia have yet to be standardized. A case study of the Good Shepherd Church in Batu is therefore warranted, with the objective of developing a new interior design that emphasizes acoustic comfort. This approach is expected to enhance the quality of Catholic worship services. The research method employed is Design Thinking, a process that utilizes five distinct stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The recent interior design modifications have been shown to enhance acoustic parameter values, particularly in terms of reverberation time, sound clarity, and speech transmission index. Furthermore, the new interior design has been shown to enhance other aspects of the quality of worship, including visual and atmospheric elements, facilities, and more. This enhancement is particularly evident in the implementation of lighting treatments in the altar area and the priests' quarters. The interior design of the Gereja Katolik Gembala Baik Batu, with an emphasis on acoustic comfort, can be achieved by using materials that are not completely soundproof, combined with efficient speaker placement. Conversely, this interior design has been shown to enhance the quality of worship, in terms of facilities and aesthetics, as evidenced by design validation tests employing questionnaires administered to the Catholic community.
