Abstract

Sektor pariwisata edukasi di Indonesia mengalami perkembangan pesat seiring minat masyarakat yang meningkat dalam melestarikan warisan historis dan memperoleh pengalaman belajar tentang budaya. Kabupaten Kediri, dengan keberadaan Pabrik Gula Meritjan sebagai aset sejarah industri, punya potensi besar untuk menjadi destinasi wisata pendidikan. Riset ini bermaksud merancang ulang interior lobi kantor Pabrik Gula Meritjan yang akan beralih fungsi menjadi pameran, menggunakan pendekatan desain bergaya Indische klasik kolonial. Alasan pemilihan lokasi ini yaitu karena nilai sejarahnya sebagai salah satu pabrik gula tertua di Indonesia, serta potensi pariwisata daerah melalui konservasi kekayaan industri. Permasalahan yang dibahas ialah kurangnya fasilitas edukasi yang mampu menyampaikan nilai sejarah pabrik pada pengunjung secara efektif, serta kebutuhan menjaga pemisahan antara area kerja dan area publik. Desain ini mengadopsi metode British Design Council Double Diamond yang terdiri dari empat tahapan inti: Discover, Define, Develop, Deliver. Proses ini diawali studi kondisi eksisting dan kebutuhan pengguna, dilanjutkan identifikasi isu utama, eksplorasi konsep desain, pembuatan model, dan evaluasi efektivitas tata ruang. Konsep desain yang diambil yaitu Wisata Edukasi Berbasis Sejarah Industri yang menawarkan kesempatan belajar tentang sejarah industri gula melalui elemen interior seperti infografis dan replika mesin pabrik, tanpa mengganggu fungsi utama kantor. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah menyediakan kerangka konseptual bagi pengembangan interior bangunan bersejarah, sehingga mendukung program pariwisata edukatif dan pelestarian sejarah di Kabupaten Kediri.

The educational tourism sector in Indonesia is growing rapidly along with the increasing public interest in preserving historical heritage and gaining learning experiences about culture. Kediri Regency, with the existence of the Meritjan Sugar Factory as an industrial historical asset, has great potential to become an educational tourism destination. This research intends to redesign the interior of the Meritjan Sugar Factory office lobby which will be converted into an exhibition, using a classic colonial Indische style design approach. The reason for choosing this location is because of its historical value as one of the oldest sugar factories in Indonesia, as well as the potential for regional tourism through the conservation of industrial wealth. The problems discussed are the lack of educational facilities that are able to convey the historical value of the factory to visitors effectively, as well as the need to maintain separation between work areas and public areas. This design adopts the British Design Council Double Diamond method which consists of four core stages: Discover, Define, Develop, Deliver. This process begins with a study of existing conditions and user needs, followed by identification of key issues, exploration of design concepts, modeling, and evaluation of spatial effectiveness. The design concept taken is Industrial History-Based Educational Tourism which offers the opportunity to learn about the history of the sugar industry through interior elements such as infographics and replicas of factory machines, without disrupting the main function of the office. The purpose of this study is to provide a conceptual framework for the development of historic building interiors, thereby supporting educational tourism and historical preservation programs in Kediri Regency.
