Abstract

Automation is a primary need to improve the efficiency and accuracy of industrial processes, including clean water treatment through desalination. This study aims to design and implement a desalination automation system using Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), which is designed to increase the productivity and effectiveness of seawater processing into fresh water. The research method includes direct observation of the automation system at Company X, selection of key components such as Allen Bradley MicroLogic PLC and VMware Software, and design of a ladder diagram as a process control model. The results of the system performance calculation show that the design yield value is 10.14%, while the actual yield ranges from 7.84% to 8.11%, with a deviation of less than 5%, which is still accepted in industrial operating standards. This indicates that the automation system can work stably and is close to optimal performance. This research makes a significant contribution to optimizing the desalination process through automation, resulting in an efficient, reliable system that supports the sustainability of industrial operations.
