Abstract

Permasalahan sisa material konstruksi menjadi isu yang perlu diperhatikan dalam konteks keberlanjutan desain. Galvalum defect yang dihasilkan oleh PT Sumber Mas Gemilang selama proses quality control merupakan salah satu jenis limbah yang memiliki potensi untuk dimanfaatkan kembali. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan galvalum defect sebagai material utama dalam perancangan tas wanita, dengan menerapkan pendekatan teknik origami. Melalui metode eksplorasi bentuk dan studi material, penelitian ini mengevaluasi karakteristik galvalum sebagai material keras dan tidak fleksibel, namun memiliki kelebihan dalam hal ketahanan dan estetika industri. Teknik origami dipilih untuk memungkinkan pembentukan struktur yang kokoh serta menyesuaikan dengan prinsip perancangan avant garde yang berani, geometris, dan eksperimental. Hasil dari proses perancangan ini terdiri dari tiga seri produk tas wanita yaitu The Accordo, The Orb dan The Crescent yang menggabungkan estetika struktural dengan nilai fungsional dan keberlanjutan dengan konsep upcycling, geometric modern, dan functional sculpture. Tas dirancang menggunakan material galvalum defect dengan struktur teknik origami serta mempertahankan finishing alami dari galvalum sebagai bagian dari nilai visualnya. Produk akhir juga mempertimbangkan kenyamanan pengguna wanita yang aktif dan ekspresif, serta potensi pengembangan ke arah fashion ramah
lingkungan.

The problem of construction material waste is an issue that needs to be considered in the context of sustainable design. Galvalum defects produced by PT Sumber Mas Gemilang during the quality control process are one type of waste that has the potential to be reused. This final project aims to optimize galvalum defects as the main material in designing women's bags, by applying an origami technique approach. Through the method of form exploration and material study, this research evaluates the characteristics of galvalum as a hard and inflexible material, but has advantages in terms of durability and industrial aesthetics. The origami technique was chosen to enable the formation of a sturdy structure and to align with the principles of bold, geometric, and experimental avant-garde design. The results of this design process consist of three series of women's bags, namely The Accordo, The Orb and The Crescent, which combine structural aesthetics with functional and sustainable values with the concepts of upcycling, modern, and functional sculpture. The bags are designed using galvalum defect material with an origami technique structure and maintain the natural finishing of galvalum as part of its visual value. The final product also considers the comfort of active and expressive women users, as well as the potential for development towards environmentally friendly fashion.
