Abstract

Aktivitas manusia merupakan salah satu faktor utama pendorong maraknya isu lingkungan. Hal ini menyebabkan perlunya dorongan terhadap penerapan environmentally responsible behavior (ERB) sebagai usaha mengurangi dampak negatif dari permasalahan tersebut. Mengingat dalam kesehariannya manusia bisa menghabiskan hingga sepertiga waktunya di dalam kantor, perilaku yang mereka terapkan di dalamnya juga merupakan bentuk tanggung jawab terhadap lingkungan, yang kemudian membuat ERB menjadi penting untuk ditinjau. Namun hingga saat ini belum banyak penelitian yang membahas ERB dalam konteks ruang kantor. Mengacu pada penelitian terdahulu mengenai hubungan antara place attachment (PA) dan ERB yang menyatakan bahwa ERB merupakan manifestasi perilaku dari ikatan afeksi dan kognisi yang dirasakan individu terhadap sebuah tempat, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi terbentuknya ERB pegawai di ruang kantor ditinjau dari proses psikologis, serta pengaruh dari faktor pembentuk PA terhadap ERB itu sendiri.
Data-data penelitian dihimpun melalui proses observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara mendalam terhadap pegawai dari kantor konsultan arsitek, untuk kemudian dianalisis melalui teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ERB dalam kantor dapat terbentuk dari hubungan yang terjadi dalam proses psikologi dimana kognisi memengaruhi afeksi, dan afeksi kemudian memengaruhi perilaku. Selain itu, faktor pembentuk PA di ruang kantor (makna ruang, waktu, hubungan sosial, dan ruang fisik) berperan dalam memengaruhi proses psikologis yang berlangsung ketika individu memiliki ikatan dengan tempatnya, yaitu sebagai dasar terbentuknya kognisi dan afeksi, yang kemudian memengaruhi terbentuknya perilaku ramah lingkungan pegawai di kantor.
Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mengisi kekosongan literatur mengenai hubungan PA dan ERB dalam konteks ruang kantor dan memberikan dasar empiris bagi organisasi untuk merancang kebijakan-kebijakan yang berbasis lingkungan ke depannya, terutama di Indonesia.

Human activity is one of the main factors driving the rise of environmental issues. This leads to the need to encourage the implementation of environmentally responsible behavior (ERB) as an effort to reduce the negative impacts of these problems. Considering that in their daily lives, humans can spend up to a third of their time in the office, the behavior they implement there is also a form of responsibility towards the environment, which then makes ERB important to examine. However, to date, there is little research discussing ERB in the context of office space. Referring to previous research on the relationship between place attachment (PA) and ERB which states that ERB is a behavioral manifestation of the affectional and cognitive bonds felt by individuals towards a place, this study aims to identify the formation of employees’ ERB in the office space in terms of psychological processes, as well as the influence of factors forming PA on ERB itself.
The research data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with employees of an architectural consultant office, and then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that ERB in the office can be formed from the relationship that occurs in the psychological process where cognition influences affection, and affection then influences behavior. In addition, factors forming PA in the office space (the meaning of space, time, social relationships, and physical space) play a role in influencing the psychological processes that occur when individuals have a bond with their place, namely as the basis for the formation of cognition and affection, which then influence the formation of environmentally friendly behavior of employees in the office.
This research is expected to fill the gap in the literature regarding the relationship between PA and ERB in the context of office space and provide an empirical basis for organizations to design environmentally-based policies in the future, especially in Indonesia.
