Abstract

The growth of information technology and business digitalization drives companies to continuously improve their operational efficiency and effectiveness. One approach used is Business Process Management (BPM), which enables organizations to systematically design, analyze, and optimize their business processes. Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) has become the primary standard for business process modeling as it provides a graphical notation that can be understood by various stakeholders. However, despite BPMN being widely adopted globally, its implementation in Indonesia remains limited, and the maturity level of business process management is not yet optimal. Additionally, challenges in BPMN learning within academic environments remain a concern, particularly regarding students' difficulties in understanding concepts and correctly applying notation. Some studies suggest that gender may influence BPMN modeling competence, but no research has specifically explored the impact of gender on BPMN modeling quality in the context of education in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the influence of gender on the quality of BPMN modeling performed by students by evaluating model quality based on adherence to Good Modeling Practices using the BPMN Inspector tool. The research methodology includes problem identification, literature review, data collection from students' modeling results, model inspection using BPMN Inspector, gender-based analysis, and the formulation of learning improvement recommendations. The expected results of this study are to identify competency differences based on gender in BPMN modeling and the challenges students face in understanding and applying BPMN. Furthermore, this research will provide recommendations for improving learning methods to be more effective and inclusive. Thus, this study contributes to enhancing BPM education quality and supporting the preparedness of human resources to meet the increasingly complex demands of the industry.
