Abstract

Terminal Eksekutif Merak adalah pelabuhan kapal feri di Cilegon, Banten, yang berfungsi sebagai jembatan antara dua pulau besar di Indonesia, Sumarera dan Jawa. Pelabuhan ini merupakan salah satu dari dua terminal kapal eksekutif di Indonesia. Meskipun dimaksudkan sebagai alternatif premium untuk layanan yang disediakan oleh pelabuhan reguler, terminal ini tidak memenuhi harapannya dan hal tersebut terlihat dari lalu lintas pejalan kaki yang minim. Ruang publik dibuat dengan mempertimbangkan inklusivitas dan keberagaman, namun, penting pula untuk mempertimbangkan kebutuhan komunitas lokal yang akan lebih sering berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pelabuhan daripada pengguna lain. Identitas tempat Pelabuhan Eksekutif Merak perlu selaras dengan budaya lokal untuk menempa identitas yang lebih jelas dan lebih unik, serta untuk membentuk fondasi kemewahan yang jauh lebih kuat. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk membangun identitas yang unik dan berkesan bagi terminal penumpang yang menerapkan budaya yang beragam dari daerah sekitarnya, Banten, dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan keberlanjutan budaya pelabuhan. Dengan menggunakan data yang diperoleh secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif, serta menggabungkan konsep modularitas dan temporalitas, perancangan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong nilai Pelabuhan Eksekutif Merak, serta mendukung ekonomi dan budaya masyarakat setempat. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini akan mencakup paper, mock-up, visualisasi 3D, dan gambar kerja AutoCAD.

The Merak Executive Terminal is a ferry harbor in Cilegon, Banten, that serves as a bridge between two major islands in Indonesia, Sumatera and Jawa. This ferry terminal is one of two executive ship terminals in Indonesia. Although it is meant to be a premium alternative to the services provided by the regular harbor, this terminal does not live up to its expectations and that is made apparent by the lack of foot traffic in the building. Public spaces are made with inclusivity and diversity in mind, but it is crucial to consider the local communities that participate in the activities of the port more frequently than others. The place identity of Merak Executive Port needs to be in tune with the local culture as to forge a clearer and more unique identity, as well as to form a much stronger foundation of luxury. This design plan aims to build a unique, memorable identity for the passenger terminal that implements the diverse culture of its surrounding areas, Banten, in an attempt to increase the cultural sustainability of the harbor. Using data gained quantitative and qualitatively, as well as incorporating concepts of modularity and temporality, this design plan will hopefully induce an increase of value in the Merak Executive Port, as well as supporting the local community’s economy and culture. The result of this design plan includes paper, mock-up, 3D visualization, and technical drawings.
