Abstract

Industri perhiasan saat ini tidak hanya berfokus pada estetika, tetapi juga mulai memperhatikan aspek keberlanjutan sebagai respons terhadap meningkatnya kesadaran masyarakat akan isu lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah kayu apung sebagai material utama dalam perancangan perhiasan wanita. Kayu apung dipilih karena karakteristik uniknya, seperti tekstur alami, bobot yang ringan, dan keindahan warna yang dihasilkan dari proses alami. Tugas akhir ini merupakan perancangan perhiasan wanita dengan konsep rustic-elegant yang menyasar perempuan Generasi X urban. Desain memadukan karakter alami kayu apung dengan estetika elegan yang modern. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi potensi limbah kayu apung sebagai material dasar perhiasan. Penelitian dilakukan melalui metode study dan eksplorasi material, analisis tren gaya hidup dan preferensi visual wanita Generasi X, serta pendekatan storytelling untuk memperkuat nilai simbolik dari perhiasan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah prototipe perhiasan untuk wanita urban Generasi x yang tidak hanya bernilai estetis tetapi juga mencerminkan prinsip keberlanjutan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam memperluas aplikasi limbah kayu apung dalam industri kreatif sekaligus meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya memanfaatkan material limbah sebagai solusi inovatif untuk produk bernilai tambah.

The jewelry industry today is no longer focused solely on aesthetics, but has begun to place greater emphasis on sustainability in response to growing public awareness of environmental issues. This study aims to utilize driftwood waste as the main material in the design of women's jewelry. Driftwood is selected for its distinctive qualities, such as natural texture, lightweight form, and the unique colors it gains through natural processes. This final project presents a jewelry collection for urban Generation X women, designed under a rustic-elegant concept that blends the raw, organic character of driftwood with a modern, refined aesthetic. The research explores the potential of driftwood waste through material studies, lifestyle trend analysis, and visual preference assessments of Generation X women. A storytelling approach is also applied to enhance the symbolic value of the jewelry. The result is a prototype collection that not only offers aesthetic appeal but also embodies sustainable values. This project is expected to contribute to the broader application of driftwood waste in the creative industry while promoting public awareness of the importance of reusing waste materials as innovative, value-added solutions.
