Abstract

In the era of intense globalization, human resource development (HRD) has become a critical factor for any organization. At PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), a service-oriented company, the quality of human resources is heavily relied upon to enhance employee performance and work ethic. Comprehensive HRD, including attitude transformation, is essential to achieve more optimal work effectiveness. Employee performance is not solely determined by individual capabilities but is significantly influenced by the conditions of the work environment, which serves as a primary focus for employees. This research aims to redesign the interior of the PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (SPTP) office by implementing the Multigeneration Fun concept and a collaborative workspace to create an inclusive, productive, and responsive work environment that addresses the needs of multiple generations, mitigating challenges such as miscommunication, reduced productivity, and lack of engagement due to differing generational values. Utilizing a design thinking approach, which includes interviews, observations, and questionnaires, the study identified that the existing interior design lacks collaboration, is monotonous, and insufficiently inclusive, prompting the proposal of design solutions to enhance cooperation and comfort. To address these issues, the research proposes design solutions that include the development of public areas such as a lounge equipped with informative panels detailing the history and services of Pelindo SPTP, a fun game arena featuring billiard and table tennis facilities to encourage social interaction and relaxation, and an open workstation to foster interaction and creativity. The application of ergonomic principles and universal design is emphasized to ensure comfort, safety, and accessibility for all users, including reducing stress levels and improving quality of life through the selection of ergonomic furniture, optimal lighting, and the use of neutral colors such as blue and green to create a calm and serene atmosphere. Validation results from a questionnaire completed by 48 respondents indicate that the design achieved high scores, with 92,85% of respondents strongly agreeing that the Multigeneration Fun concept effectively meets user needs, thus creating a dynamic, collaborative work environment that supports employee well-being and organizational goals. Consequently, the proposed design not only establishes a functional and comfortable workspace but also enhances productivity, creativity, and employee well-being while contributing to organizational objectives and sustainable development through an inclusive and innovative work environment.
