Abstract

Serat sisal (Agave sisalana) merupakan komoditas ekspor yang selama ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dalam bentuk produk bernilai tambah, khususnya dalam ranah desain interior. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengangkat potensi serat sisal sebagai material utama dalam pengembangan produk lampu dekoratif anyaman dengan konsep natural minimalis, yang ditujukan untuk interior kafe bergaya kontemporer. Studi dilakukan melalui observasi langsung di kafe "Kopi Dari Hati" Sudimoro Malang dan pengrajin Palem Craft, dilanjutkan dengan analisis kebutuhan, eksperimen teknik anyaman, serta eksplorasi dua jenis material sisal. Dari lima jenis anyaman yang diuji, anyaman lurus pada serat sisal biasa dinilai paling sesuai dengan konsep desain yang diusung karena mampu memunculkan efek visual cahaya dan bayangan yang khas. Desain produk dikembangkan ke dalam tiga tipe lampu yaitu lampu meja, lantai, dan gantung, dengan struktur kaki tiga yang mendukung stabilitas dan kesan ringan. Pengembangan produk turut disertai analisis identitas merek, proses subassembly, dan perencanaan bisnis menggunakan pendekatan Business Model Canvas. Hasil perhitungan biaya menunjukkan bahwa produk memiliki harga pokok yang kompetitif dan potensi pengembangan pasar premium melalui strategi margin yang disesuaikan. Perancangan ini membuktikan bahwa serat sisal berpotensi diolah menjadi produk kreatif yang bernilai estetis, fungsional, dan ramah lingkungan.

Sisal fiber (Agave sisalana) is a major export commodity that has not yet been fully optimized into high-value products, particularly in the field of interior design. This research aims to explore the potential of sisal fiber as the main material for developing woven decorative lamps with a natural minimalist concept, specifically designed for contemporary-style café interiors. The study involved direct observation at "Kopi Dari Hati" cafe in Sudimoro Malang and with local artisans at Palem Craft, followed by need analysis, weaving experiments, and material testing between two types of sisal. Among five tested weaving techniques, plain weave using regular sisal fiber was found most suitable, offering distinctive shadow and light effects aligned with the design intent. The product was developed into three lamp types which is table lamp, floor lamp, and pendant lamp, featuring a stable three-leg structure that visually communicates lightness. The design process also included brand identity analysis, subassembly planning, and business strategy formulation through the Business Model Canvas. Cost analysis showed that the product maintains a competitive cost structure with strong potential in the premium market through strategic margin settings. This project demonstrates that sisal fiber can be transformed into creative, aesthetically appealing, functional, and environmentally friendly design products.
