Abstract
kompleksitas struktur vegetasi dan diversitas tipe hutan (hutan lindung dan produksi) memainkan peran vital sebagai penyerap CO₂. Dalam mendukung upaya penurunan emisi CO₂ di udara, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengestimasi stok karbon pada masing-masing tipe hutan menggunakan pendekatan SIG (Sistem Informasi Geografis) dengan analisis citra Sentinel-2A berbasis indeks vegetasi NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) serta validasi groundcheck melalui pengukuran biomassa secara non-destruktif. Estimasi stok karbon dilakukan menggunakan metode alometrik berdasarkan klasifikasi kehijauan NDVI. Hasil pemrosesan menunjukkan tidak terjadi pergeseran spasial signifikan pada citra, dengan lima kelas kehijauan yang berhasil dipetakan dan akurasi klasifikasi mencapai 87,67%. Estimasi stok karbon di hutan produksi kehijauan tinggi mencapai 43,86 ton/ha (pohon: 41,83 ton/ha; tiang: 2,03 ton/ha) dan 44,63 ton/ha (pohon: 43,34 ton/ha; tiang: 1,29 ton/ha) untuk kehijauan sedang. Sementara itu, hutan lindung memiliki estimasi stok karbon 65,94 ton/ha (pohon: 64,29 ton/ha; tiang: 1,65 ton/ha) pada kehijauan tinggi, dan 21,56 ton/ha (pohon: 21,05 ton/ha; tiang: 0,51 ton/ha) pada kehijauan sedang. Variasi hasil stok karbon tersebut dipengaruhi oleh umur, diameter pohon, komposisi vegetasi, kerapatan, dan tutupan kanopi. Korelasi antara NDVI dan stok karbon tergolong lemah (r = 0,29; p > 0,05), mengindikasikan bahwa NDVI efektif digunakan untuk klasifikasi kehijauan, namun belum dapat merepresentasikan stok karbon berdasarkan tingkat kehijauan, terutama di hutan produksi.

The upstream watershed forest area of Kedunglarangan, Arjuno-Welirang Mountains, with its complex vegetation structure and forest type diversity (protected and production forests) plays a vital role as a CO₂ sink. In support of efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions in the air, this study was conducted with the aim of estimating carbon stocks in each forest type using a GIS (Geographic Information System) using Sentinel-2A satellite imagery analysis based on the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) vegetation index, along with ground-check validation through non-destructive biomass measurements. Carbon stock estimation was conducted using allometric methods based on NDVI greenness classification. The processing results showed no significant spatial shifts in the imagery, with five greenness classes successfully mapped and classification accuracy reaching 87.67%. Carbon stock estimates in high-greenness production forests reached 43.86 tons/ha (trees: 41.83 tons/ha; stumps: 2.03 tons/ha) and 44.63 tons/ha (trees: 43.34 tons/ha; stumps: 1.29 tons/ha) for moderate greenness. Meanwhile, protected forests have estimated carbon stocks of 65.94 tons/ha (trees: 64.29 tons/ha; stumps: 1.65 tons/ha) in high canopy density, and 21.56 tons/ha (trees: 21.05 tons/ha; stumps: 0.51 tons/ha) in moderate canopy density. The variation in carbon stock results is influenced by age, tree diameter, vegetation composition, density, and canopy cover. The correlation between NDVI and carbon stock is relatively weak (r = 0.29; p > 0.05), indicating that NDVI is effective for classifying greenness, but cannot yet represent carbon stock based on greenness levels, especially in production forests.
