Abstract
Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah, salah satunya pohon Corypha utan yang menghasilkan serat agel. Serat ini bersifat fleksibel, kuat, ringan, dan mudah terurai, sehingga berpotensi sebagai alternatif material ramah lingkungan pengganti bahan sintetis. Namun, pemanfaatannya masih terbatas pada kerajinan sederhana. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi agel sebagai bahan utama dalam desain produk penyajian kue yang mendukung prinsip keberlanjutan, sekaligus menawarkan berbagai fitur inovatif. Produk dengan series Ranum, Tara, dan Lara menggunakan pendekatan modular yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk mengganti, melepas, atau menyesuaikan bagian produk sesuai kebutuhan penyajian. Selain itu, desain ini bersifat customizable, memungkinkan konsumen memilih ukuran, warna alami dari pewarnaan eco-print, serta motif anyaman agel yang sesuai dengan preferensi atau konsep acara. Sebagai bagian dari strategi keberlanjutan dan pemasaran, perancangan juga dilengkapi dengan inovasi kemasan berbentuk box kardus berbahan daur ulang yang didesain secara ramah lingkungan. Kajian dalam penelitian ini mencakup analisis karakteristik material, eksperimen kebersihan dan pewarnaan, ergonomi, serta kekuatan struktur. Proses perancangan juga disertai strategi branding dan pendekatan visual rustic yang sesuai dengan target pasar. Inovasi ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan nilai guna dan jual produk, sekaligus mendorong pengrajin lokal dalam menciptakan produk penyajian kue yang fungsional, estetis, dan berkelanjutan.

Indonesia is rich in biodiversity, one of which is the Corypha utan tree that produces agel fiber. This fiber is flexible, strong, lightweight, and biodegradable, making it a promising eco-friendly alternative to synthetic materials. However, its current use is still limited to simple handicrafts. This research aims to explore agel as the main material in designing cake serving products that support sustainability principles while offering various innovative features. The products, named the Ranum, Tara, and Lara series, adopt a modular approach that allows users to swap, detach, or adjust parts of the product according to serving needs. Additionally, the design is customizable, enabling consumers to choose the size, natural colors from eco-print dyeing, and agel weaving patterns to suit their preferences or event concepts. As part of a sustainability and marketing strategy, the design also includes innovative packaging in the form of eco-friendly cardboard boxes made from recycled materials. The study includes an analysis of material characteristics, cleanliness and coloring experiments, ergonomics, and structural strength. The design process is also supported by branding strategies and a rustic visual approach tailored to the target market. This innovation is expected to increase both the utility and market value of the product while empowering local artisans to create functional, aesthetic, and sustainable cake serving products.
