Abstract

The Bhre Kahuripan Site Complex is a Majapahit Kingdom heritage site that is considered to have played an important role in the history of the Majapahit Kingdom. Several stages of excavation have been carried out at this site. The results of excavations conducted between 2019 and 2024 show the existence of a number of brick structures buried several meters deep in the West Sector and Putuk Sector. Some of these structures are estimated to extend into the Field Sector. The Field Sector is one of the areas that has not yet been fully excavated at this site. Therefore, data on the distribution of buried structures in the Field Sector is needed as a reference for the next phase of excavation. The analysis of the distribution patterns can be conducted using geophysical methods such as the magnetic gradiometer method and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) method. Both methods are widely used for analyzing the distribution patterns of buried structures at numerous archaeological sites.Based on the results of this study, magnetic gradient anomalies were found on the western and eastern sides of the study area. These anomalies were indicated by higher magnetic gradient values. Meanwhile, GPR anomalies were mostly found on the western and northern sides of the study area, with a number of smaller anomalies on the eastern side of the study area. GPR anomalies are characterized by higher amplitude values at the 10 ns time slice. Mapping of the distribution of buried structures in the study area was carried out by integrating the interpretation results from the magnetic gradiometer and GPR methods. The mapping results of anomalies from both methods generally show similarities in location and orientation. Based on their dimensions, these anomalies are suspected to be wall foundations and gate foundations.
