Abstract
Pencemaran air akibat limbah industri tekstil dapat ditangani melalui fotodegradasi menggunakan fotokatalis berbasis nanokomposit. Dalam penelitian ini, nanokomposit ZnO/Chitosan/CMC disintesis menggunakan metode sol-gel dan ultrasonikasi. ZnO dipilih karena memiliki aktivitas fotokatalitik tinggi dan band gap besar (3,37 eV). Namun, efisiensinya dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggabungkan Chitosan/CMC yang berfungsi sebagai matriks pendukung, meningkatkan adsorpsi, biokompatibilitas serta membantu dispersi ZnO. Nanokomposit ini berpotensi memiliki fungsi ganda sebagai adsorben dan fotokatalis, berkat kombinasi kemampuan adsorptif Chitosan/CMC dan aktivitas fotokatalitik ZnO. Water pollution caused by textile industry waste can be mitigated through photodegradation using nanocomposite-based photocatalysts. In this study, a ZnO/Chitosan/CMC nanocomposite was synthesized using the sol-gel and ultrasonication methods. ZnO was selected due to its high photocatalytic activity and large band gap (3.37 eV). However, its efficiency can be improved by combining it with Chitosan/CMC, acts as a supporting matrix to enhance adsorption, biocompatibility, and dispersion of ZnO. The resulting nanocomposite has the potential to serve a dual function as both an adsorbent and a photocatalyst, owing to the synergistic combination of Chitosan/CMC’s adsorptive properties and ZnO photocatalytic activity. Characterization was performed using FTIR, XRD, SEM, UV-Vis, and Photoluminescence analysis
