Abstract
Indonesia memiliki lebih dari 30.000 spesies flora, dengan sekitar 3.000 di antaranya merupakan flora endemik. Sayangnya, spesies-spesies ini menghadapi ancaman serius akibat deforestasi, alih fungsi lahan, dan perubahan iklim, sementara kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pelestariannya masih rendah khususnya dibandingkan dengan fauna. Untuk menjawab tantangan ini, proyek ini merancang media pembelajaran interaktif bagi anak usia dini berupa audio player portabel yang terintegrasi dengan figur edukatif yang merepresentasikan lima flora endemik Indonesia yang terancam punah. Pendekatan desain yang digunakan menggabungkan storytelling edukatif berbasis audio dengan bentuk fisik figur yang atraktif dan mudah dikenali anak usia 3–5 tahun. Proses perancangan melibatkan analisis karakteristik perkembangan anak, studi literatur mengenai storytelling dan pendidikan lingkungan, serta pengujian terhadap aspek kognitif, motorik, dan afektif pengguna. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan storytelling berbasis audio mampu meningkatkan minat dan anak terhadap topik flora, serta memfasilitasi interaksi orang tua–anak dalam konteks pembelajaran di rumah. Dari sisi desain, produk dinilai menarik, mudah digunakan, dan memberikan pengalaman multisensorik yang memperkuat keterikatan emosional anak terhadap flora. Dengan demikian, perancangan ini berhasil menjawab kebutuhan akan media edukatif yang efektif, menarik, dan berorientasi pada pelestarian keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia sejak usia dini.

Indonesia is home to over 30,000 species of flora, including 3,000 endemic species, showcasing its remarkable biodiversity. However, these unique plants face significant threats from deforestation, land conversion, and climate change, while public awareness about their conservation remains low compared to fauna. Early childhood education presents a strategic opportunity to instill awareness and appreciation of Indonesia's endemic flora from an early age. To address this issue, this design project develops a portable audio player integrated with educational figurines representing Indonesia’s endangered flora. Designed for children aged 3–8, the product combines interactive storytelling through the audio player with figurines symbolizing specific plant species, creating an engaging and educational experience. The project also supports cognitive, motor, and emotional development in children and encourages parent-child interaction in home-based learning. With its aesthetic, functional, and sustainable design, this project aims to enhance early childhood education while promoting environmental awareness and appreciation of Indonesia’s local biodiversity. Through an interactive and enjoyable approach, it seeks to foster a sense of care for endangered endemic flora.
