Abstract

Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia Surabaya (SAIMS) merupakan institusi pendidikan yang mengusung konsep pembelajaran berbasis alam, dengan fokus pada pendekatan holistik dan lingkungan belajar yang terbuka serta alami. Namun, bangunan SAIM East 2 yang berlokasi di Keputih, Kec. Sukolilo, Surabaya Timur masih menggunakan desain konvensional yang kurang merepresentasikan karakter dan identitas sebagai sekolah alam. Minimnya elemen-elemen alami dalam interior serta kurangnya narasi visual yang mendukung citra sekolah alam menyebabkan branding sekolah belum tersampaikan secara optimal melalui ruang fisiknya. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk me-redesain interior SAIM East 2 dengan pendekatan green interior design yang mengedepankan prinsip keberlanjutan, kenyamanan, serta koneksi dengan alam. Selain itu, konsep penguatan branding sekolah alam diterapkan melalui elemen-elemen desain interior yang komunikatif, edukatif, dan mencerminkan nilai-nilai pembelajaran berbasis alam. Bagaimana memaksimalkan branding SAIM EAST 2 yang berbasis sekolah alam? Bagaimana menciptakan lingkungan yang informatif dengan penerapan elemen-elemen desain interior?. Perancangan ini digunakan sebagai solusi untuk menjawab rumusan masalah tersebut. Metode design thinking digunakan sebagai tahapan dalam merancang untuk mengetahui kebutuhan pengguna dan permasalahan hingga solusi desain. Hasil yang diharapkan dari perancangan ini adalah terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang tidak hanya fungsional dan nyaman, tetapi juga mampu memperkuat citra SAIMS sebagai institusi pendidikan berbasis alam. Proyek ini turut berkontribusi pada pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), dan SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia Surabaya (SAIMS) is an educational institution that adopts a nature-based learning concept, focusing on a holistic approach and an open, natural learning environment. However, the SAIM East 2 building located in Keputih, Sukolilo District, East Surabaya, still uses a conventional interior design that does not adequately represent the character and identity of a nature-based school. The lack of natural elements in the interior, along with limited visual narratives that support the image of a nature school, has resulted in suboptimal branding through its physical space. This design project aims to redesign the interior of SAIM East 2 using a green interior design approach that emphasizes sustainability, comfort, and connection with nature. Additionally, the concept of strengthening the nature-school branding is applied through interior elements that are communicative, educational, and reflective of nature-based learning values. This project addresses two main questions: how can the branding of SAIM EAST 2 as a nature-based school be maximized, and how can an informative environment be created through the application of interior design elements? The design process adopts the design thinking method to identify user needs and problems, leading to appropriate design solutions. The expected outcome of this project is the creation of a learning environment that is not only functional and comfortable but also capable of reinforcing SAIMS's image as a nature-based educational institution. This project also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
