Abstract

Situbondo Regency holds significant potential in the development of marine tourism, yet it continues to face challenges such as limited local economic growth, suboptimal tourism facilities, and a lack of interior design appeal in its beachside resorts. This research aims to optimize the interior design of Labuan Resort Situbondo using the Design Thinking method, which focuses on a user-centered approach. The design process follows five stages: Empathize (understanding tourist experiences and expectations), Define (identifying user needs), Ideate (generating creative design solutions), Prototype (developing spatial and visual mock-ups), and Test (validating through user simulations and surveys). The proposed concept integrates eco-tourism principles and local wisdom by using natural materials such as bamboo and local wood, incorporating traditional Situbondo batik patterns, and applying a modern tropical style that prioritizes sustainability. Key areas including the lobby, guest rooms, gym, and local product display are designed to provide an authentic tourism experience rooted in coastal culture. The validation conducted using the Customer Satisfaction Index method indicated that the user satisfaction level reached 91.6%, categorized as very high, especially in aspects of comfort, cultural identity, and the uniqueness of the experience provided. The majority of respondents expressed interest in returning to stay, confirming that this approach is effective in enhancing tourism appeal, spatial comfort, and contributing to both environmental sustainability and the local economy.
