Abstract

Permasalahan rendahnya nilai Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) di Indonesia, khususnya pada
aspek pendidikan dasar, menjadi perhatian penting dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya
manusia Indonesia. Meskipun IPM Indonesia mengalami tren kenaikan sebesar rata-rata 0,75% per
tahun selama lima tahun terakhir, namun nilainya masih tergolong sedang dan belum mencapai standar
tinggi secara global. Pendidikan dasar memiliki peran krusial dalam membangun fondasi karakter dan
kompetensi generasi muda, termasuk dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai kepemimpinan sejak dini. Sekolah
Kreatif SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya merupakan institusi pendidikan dasar yang menekankan
pengembangan karakter kepemimpinan melalui program dan visualisasi lingkungan sekolah, namun
masih menghadapi tantangan dalam penyediaan ruang fisik yang optimal untuk mendukung visi “Leader
In Me”, khususnya pada area kantin dan ruang kelas 1 yang belum sepenuhnya mendukung kenyamanan
belajar dan pengembangan karakter siswa.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang ulang interior area kantin dan ruang kelas 1 Sekolah
Kreatif SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya dengan pendekatan Creativogenic Design guna mendukung
perkembangan karakter kepemimpinan siswa sejak usia dini. Desain ini ditujukan untuk menciptakan
ruang yang tidak hanya fungsional dan estetis, namun juga mampu mendorong interaksi sosial,
kreativitas, dan semangat inisiatif siswa melalui lingkungan yang mendukung proses belajar dan
pembentukan nilai kepemimpinan.
Metodologi yang digunakan dalam proses perancangan ini adalah metode design thinking melalui
pendekatan Three Method, yaitu: (1) penguatan identitas sekolah sebagai institusi yang berkarakter
sebagai sekoalh kreatif islami, (2) konsep Creativogenic yang berfokus pada lingkungan yang
merangsang kreativitas dan inisiatif dalam berinteraksi, serta (3) Perkembangan karakter kepemimpinan
sesuai dengan visi misi sekolah. Proses ini melalui tahapan studi kasus, pengumpulan data (observasi
dan wawancara), analisis data, pra-desain, prototipe, dan finalisasi desain.
Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Creativogenic Design dengan elemen
fleksibilitas ruang, visual yang komunikatif, serta zona-zona aktivitas interaktif dapat meningkatkan
kenyamanan, semangat belajar, dan keterlibatan sosial siswa di kantin dan ruang kelas. Desain juga
menghadirkan elemen visual yang mendorong keterhubungan emosional siswa dengan lingkungan
belajar serta mendukung pembentukan karakter kepemimpinan. Validasi desain menunjukkan
peningkatan persepsi siswa terhadap kenyamanan ruang dan munculnya perilaku kolaboratif serta
inisiatif dalam aktivitas belajar dan bermain.

The issue of Indonesia's relatively low Human Development Index (HDI), particularly in the
aspect of basic education, has become a major concern in efforts to improve the quality of human
resources. Although Indonesia’s HDI has shown an upward trend with an average annual increase of
0.75% over the past five years, the score remains moderate and has yet to reach a high global standard.
Basic education plays a crucial role in establishing the foundation of character and competence in the
younger generation, including the early instillation of leadership values. Sekolah Kreatif SD
Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya is a primary education institution that emphasizes leadership character
development through programs and school environment visualization. However, it still faces challenges
in providing optimal physical spaces to support the "Leader In Me" vision—particularly in the cafeteria
and first-grade classroom areas, which have yet to fully support student comfort and character
development.
This study aims to redesign the cafeteria and first-grade classroom interiors at Sekolah Kreatif
SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya using the Creativogenic Design approach to support the development
of students' leadership character from an early age. The design is intended to create spaces that are not
only functional and aesthetic but also capable of fostering social interaction, creativity, and student
initiative through environments that support learning and the formation of leadership values.
The methodology used in this design process is the Design Thinking method through the Three
Method approach, namely: (1) strengthening the school's identity as a creative and Islamic character
based institution, (2) applying the Creativogenic concept which focuses on environments that stimulate
creativity and initiative in interaction, and (3) developing leadership character in accordance with the
school’s vision and mission. This process involved case studies, data collection (observation and
interviews), data analysis, pre-design, prototyping, and final design development.
The design results indicate that the application of Creativogenic Design—through flexible
spatial arrangements, communicative visuals, and interactive activity zones—can improve student
comfort, learning motivation, and social engagement in the cafeteria and classroom areas. The design
also incorporates visual elements that encourage students' emotional connection with their learning
environment and support the formation of leadership character. Design validation shows an increase in
students' perception of spatial comfort, as well as the emergence of collaborative and initiative-based
behaviors in both learning and play activities.
