Abstract

Tren penggunaan batik di kalangan Generasi Z (Gen Z) membuka peluang baru dalam industri fashion, termasuk desain sepatu. Sepatu sneaker, yang sangat populer di kalangan Gen Z, merupakan produk ideal untuk dipadukan dengan motif batik. Batik Betawi, dengan ciri khas motifnya yang bebas dan warna mencolok, menjadi pilihan menarik untuk desain sepatu sneaker Gen Z. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain sepatu sneaker dengan mengaplikasikan keunikan motif batik Betawi pada upper, sekaligus mengatasi masalah umum pada sepatu batik di pasaran di mana motif sering terpotong dan tidak utuh. Untuk mencapai hal ini, penelitian ini berfokus pada metode stilasi, transformasi, dan adaptasi motif Batik Betawi agar menyatu harmonis dengan pola upper sepatu sneaker, sesuai dengan preferensi Gen Z. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara ahli, dan kuesioner kepada Gen Z. Data sekunder didapatkan melalui studi literatur dan penelitian terdahulu. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah sepatu sneaker motif batik Betawi yang sesuai dengan tren dan selera Gen Z, dengan motif batik yang utuh dan estetis pada upper. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mempertahankan warisan budaya dan mendorong inovasi dalam desain sepatu sneaker. Selain itu, desain sneaker ini juga menjadi contoh bagaimana tradisi dan teknologi dapat berpadu harmonis untuk menciptakan produk yang relevan dengan tren dan kebutuhan masa kini. Desain ini juga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan apresiasi Gen Z terhadap budaya dan seni batik Betawi, serta menjadi alternatif fashion yang stylish dan nyaman.

The growing trend of batik usage among Generation Z (Gen Z) opens up new opportunities in the fashion industry, including footwear design. Sneakers, highly popular among Gen Z, are ideal products to combine with batik motifs. Betawi batik, with its characteristic free-flowing motifs and striking colors, presents an attractive option for Gen Z sneaker designs. This research aims to develop sneaker designs by applying the unique motifs of Betawi batik to the upper, while simultaneously addressing a common issue in existing batik footwear where motifs are often cut off and incomplete. To achieve this, the study focuses on stylization, transformation, and precise adaptation of Betawi batik motifs to harmoniously integrate with the sneaker upper's pattern, aligning with Gen Z's preferences. This study employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Primary data is collected through observation, expert interviews, and questionnaires distributed to Gen Z. Secondary data is obtained from literature reviews and previous research. The result of this study is a Betawi batik-motif sneaker that aligns with Gen Z's trends and tastes, featuring intact and aesthetically pleasing batik motifs on the upper. This research is expected to preserve cultural heritage and encourage innovation in sneaker design. Furthermore, this sneaker design serves as an example of how tradition and technology can blend harmoniously to create products relevant to current trends and needs. This design is also anticipated to enhance Gen Z's appreciation for Betawi culture and batik art, offering a stylish and comfortable fashion alternative.
