Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang mainan anak berbasis fauna predator endemik Indonesia menggunakan material utama kayu sebagai alat untuk memperkaya pengalaman bermain sekaligus belajar tentang ekologi rantai makanan hewan predator indonesia. Hewan predator merupakan keystone species bagi keseimbangan ekosistem yang mana hilangnya hewan predator akan mengakibatkan perubahan drastis pada lingkungan habitatnya. Namun, masih banyak masyarakat indonesia yang mempersepsikan hewan ini sebagai ancaman dan minim pemahaman atas dampak yang akan terjadi jika hewan predator punah. Proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak-anak membentuk kepribadian dan kemampuan mereka di masa depan. Maka karena itu, fokus perancangan ini adalah pada pengembangan mainan yang mengedepankan pengalaman bermain sambil belajar.
Perancangan mainan ini akan melanjutkan penelitian penulis dari mata kuliah Studio Desain Produk 4, yang mana membawa konsep sistem combiner bermaterial kayu dan sistem edukasi lingkungan yang akan dikembangkan lagi di penelitian ini. Penulis akan menerapkan teknik desain dan produksi mainan kayu memvisualisasikan karakteristik hewan predator dengan konsep desain robotic agar diharapkan daya minat bertambah. Selain itu, saya juga akan mempelajari dampak dari penggunaan material kayu pada combiner toys terhadap daya tahan dan keawetan mainan tersebut. Diharapkan hasil perancangan ini dapat memberikan kontribusi positif dalam menumbuhkan apresiasi terhadap hewan predator endemik Indonesia melalui mainan kayu yang menarik.

This research aims to design a children's toy based on endemic Indonesian predator fauna, primarily using wood as a material to enrich the playing experience while simultaneously teaching about the ecology of the Indonesian predator food chain. Predator animals are keystone species for ecosystem balance, and the loss of predator animals will result in drastic changes to their habitat. However, many people still perceive these animals as threats and have a limited understanding of the impact if predator animals become extinct. The growth and development process of children shapes their personality and abilities in the future. Therefore, the focus of this design is on developing toys that prioritize the experience of playing while learning. This toy design will continue the author's research from the Product Design Studio 4 course, which carries the concept of a wooden combiner system and an environmental education system that will be further developed in this research. The author will apply wood toy design and production techniques to visualize the characteristics of predator animals with a robotic design concept, which is expected to increase interest. In addition, I will also study the impact of using wood material on combiner toys on the durability and longevity of the toys. It is hoped that the results of this design can make a positive contribution to fostering appreciation for endemic Indonesian predator animals through attractive wooden toys.
