Abstract
PT.

PT. XYZ is a fertiliser company that faces a problem, specifically the formation of suspended solids resulting from the reaction between acidic and caustic wastewater in an equalisation tank. This can increase the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) value, thereby affecting the performance of the subsequent process, which is coagulation and flocculation. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the optimal dose of coagulation and flocculation for the PT XYZ Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) reactor and to determine the characteristics the cake of waste produced from the dewatering process, as well as its potential for reuse by PT XYZ. This study varied the dosage of Tawas coagulant and PAM A flocculant and compared them with Moringa seed biocoagulant at two stirring speeds, 125/20 rpm (A1) and 135/30 rpm (A2). Parameters measured before and after the coagulation and flocculation process include pH, TSS, COD, and turbidity. The method used to analyze the waste cake parameters involved organic and inorganic, B3, and the TCLP (Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure) test. The most optimal dose was obtained at a coagulant variation of 110 mg/L alum and a flocculant variation of 10 mg/L PAM A with a stirring speed variation of A1, achieving TSS removal of 74%. The optimal dosage for the biocoagulant was determined to be 50 mg/L of Moringa seeds and 10 mg/L of PAM A flocculant, with a stirring speed variation of A1, achieving TSS removal of 71%. Meanwhile, for the cake of waste, after undergoing organic and inorganic analysis, B3 characteristics, and TCLP test, it was confirmed to be safe and below regulatory limits, making it safe for reuse as a conditioner material.
