Abstract

This study aims to improve the efficiency of material management processes in infrastructure construction projects through the application of Lean Construction and Digital Transformation. The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method is used to map the workflow, identify Necessary but Non-Value Added (NNVA) and Non-Value Added (NVA) activities, and design process improvements through digital transformation. The Current Value Stream Mapping (CVSM) reveals that the material procurement process is dominated by NNVA and NVA activities, with waiting and overprocessing being the most prevalent forms of waste. Improvements were carried out in stages, starting with the use of a Load Scanner for material volume measurement and Google Form for real-time material reporting. Analysis at each stage showed a reduction in total Lead Time (LT) from 35,690 minutes (± 595 hours / 25 days) to 29,842 minutes (± 497 hours / 21 days). The Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE), which represents the ratio of value-added activity duration to the total process duration, increased from 0.34% to 0.40%. Recommendations for improving process efficiency were developed and illustrated through a Future Value Stream Mapping (FVSM). Analysis using FVSM indicates that LT can be further reduced from 29,842 minutes (± 497 hours / 21 days) to 21,577 minutes (± 360 hours / 15 days), with the PCE increasing from 0.40% to 0.56%. This study demonstrates that the application of Lean Construction and Digital Transformation can reduce waste and simplify the material reporting process in infrastructure construction projects.
