Abstract

The rapid population growth in Pekanbaru City has led to an increase in built-up areas and a decrease in water catchment areas, resulting in increased surface runoff and flooding, particularly in the Sail Sub-Watershed area. This situation is exacerbated by high rainfall due to global warming, which further increases the risk of flooding in urban areas. This study aims to identify the distribution of locations suitable for the implementation of green infrastructure and assess the impact of its application in reducing flood runoff in the Sub DAS Sail area. The methods used include Delphi analysis to determine the variables influencing location selection, spatial analysis based on overlay and attribute selection to identify suitable locations, and hydrological analysis using the Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method to assess runoff reduction. The results of the study indicate that there are ten main variables influencing the determination of green infrastructure locations, including watershed area, slope gradient, soil type or soil hydrological group, vegetated areas, impervious areas, water bodies, vacant land, and flood hazard zones. Based on the spatial analysis using these variables, seven out of eight types of green infrastructure studied have potential locations for implementation in the Sail Sub-Watershed, with retention ponds and detention ponds being the most widely distributed types. Hydrological simulation results indicate that detention ponds can reduce runoff volume by 6%, followed by retention ponds at 3%, while other types contribute less significantly. From these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of green infrastructure has the potential to reduce flood runoff, although it cannot completely eliminate all existing flood potential.
