Abstract

Perpustakaan sebagai pusat aktivitas akademik mahasiswa seringkali menyediakan area lesehan sebagai alternatif ruang belajar. Namun, desain furnitur pada area lesehan yang ada umumnya belum mempertimbangkan aspek ergonomi secara komprehensif, sehingga dapat menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan dan risiko gangguan muskuloskeletal bagi pengguna yang beraktivitas dalam durasi lama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang set furnitur ergonomis yang secara spesifik mengakomodasi cara duduk lesehan, dengan studi kasus di area lesehan Perpustakaan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Pendekatan desain didasarkan pada prinsip-prinsip ergonomi, data antropometri populasi pengguna, serta analisis postur dan aktivitas duduk lesehan. Metodologi penelitian meliputi studi literatur, observasi, wawancara, analisis data antropometri, serta proses perancangan konseptual dan detail. Hasil diharapkan berupa model desain set furnitur lesehan yang optimal, mampu meningkatkan kenyamanan, mendukung postur tubuh yang sehat, dan pada akhirnya meningkatkan produktivitas belajar mahasiswa. Implikasi penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi panduan dalam perancangan furnitur publik, khususnya di lingkungan pendidikan, untuk menciptakan ruang yang lebih sehat dan kondusif.

Libraries, as centers of student academic activity, often provide "lesehan" (floor-sitting) areas as alternative study spaces. However, the existing furniture designs in these lesehan areas generally do not comprehensively consider ergonomic aspects, which can lead to discomfort and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders for users engaged in long-duration activities. This research aims to design an ergonomic furniture set specifically accommodating the lesehan sitting style, with a case study in the lesehan area of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Library. The design approach is based on ergonomic principles, anthropometric data of the user population, and analysis of lesehan sitting postures and activities. The research methodology includes literature review, observation, interviews, anthropometric data analysis, as well as conceptual and detailed design processes. The expected outcome is an optimal lesehan furniture set design model, capable of enhancing comfort, supporting healthy posture, and ultimately increasing student learning productivity. The implications of this research are hoped to serve as a guide in the design of public furniture, especially in educational environments, to create healthier and more conducive spaces.
