Abstract

Kalimantan has many isolated areas that are not yet connected to the national electricity grid. To meet energy needs, these regions rely on Diesel Power Plants (PLTD), whose distribution faces geographical challenges and limited port infrastructure. This study aims to design an amphibious container truck vessel capable of transporting PLTD units, packaged in containers, to these remote areas via both land and water routes. The methodology includes literature review, technical data collection, determination of principal dimensions, resistance analysis using Maxsurf Resistance software, propulsion system selection, weight estimation, and hull form modeling. The designed vessel has a length of 8.8 meters, a beam of 2.9 meters, a height of 2 meters, and a draft of 1.5 meters, with a single propulsion system and a design speed of 9 knots. The total estimated construction cost of the vessel is IDR 1,673,981,838, covering major components such as the hull, propulsion system, hydraulic crane, and amphibious wheels. The final result shows that this design can fulfill the transportation requirements of PLTD units to non-port-accessible areas by integrating the functionalities of both land vehicles and watercraft. This research is expected to offer an innovative solution to support equitable energy distribution in remote regions of Indonesia.
