Abstract
Pelindihan nikel dari batuan laterit yang berasal dari Kolaka, Sulawesi Tenggara dengan agen pelindih HCl telah berhasil dilakukan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Response Surface Methodology – Box-Behnken Design (BBD). Batuan laterit dan padatan hasil pelindihan dikarakterisasi dengan X-Ray Diffraction Spectroscopy (XRD) dan Atomic Absorption Spectrocopy (AAS). Pelindihan dilakukan dengan tiga parameter pengujian berupa konsentrasi agen pelindih HCl, waktu pelindihan, dan suhu pelindihan. Variasi ketiga parameter yaitu konsentrasi agen pelindih HCl (6, 8, 10 M), waktu pelindihan (120, 180, 240 menit), dan suhu pelindihan (80, 90, 100°C). Konsentrasi nikel hasil pelindihan diukur dengan Spektroskopi Serapan Atom (SSA). Pemurnian dilakukan dengan proses presipitasi dua tahap. Tahap pertama dilakukan untuk mengendapkan logam besi dengan amonium hidroksida (NH4OH). Selanjutnya dilakukan presipitasi tahap kedua dengan penambahan asam oksalat (H₂C₂O₄) 2 M dengan hasil pengendapan berupa padatan nikel oksalat (NiC₂O₄.2H₂O). Hasil pelindihan optimum pada kondisi konsentrasi HCl 8 M, waktu pelindihan selama 240 menit, dan suhu pelindihan sebesar 100°C dengan konsentrasi dan %Ekstraksi nikel tertinggi sebesar 490,01 ppm dan 49,93%. Hasil perhitungan %Yield produk dan %Recovery nikel berturut-turut adalah sebesar 43,8 dan 98,66%. ========================================================================================================================================
Nickel leaching from laterite rock sourced from Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi using HCl leaching agent has been successfully carried out. The research was conducted using Response Surface Methodology – Box-Behnken Design (BBD). Laterite rocks and the leaching solid products were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction Spectroscopy (XRD) and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Leaching was performed with three testing parameters: concentration of HCl leaching agent, leaching time, and leaching temperature. The variations of these three parameters were the concentration of HCl leaching agent (6, 8, 10 M), leaching time (120, 180, 240 minutes), and leaching temperature (80, 90, 100°C). The nickel concentration from leaching was measured using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Purification was conducted through a two-stage precipitation process. The first stage was performed to precipitate iron metal with ammonium hydroxide (NH₄OH), followed by the second stage of precipitation with the addition of 2 M oxalic acid, resulting in precipitation similar to nickel oxalate. The optimum leaching results at HCl concentration of 8 M, leaching time of 240 minutes, and leaching temperature of 100°C showed the highest nickel concentration and %Extraction of 490.01 ppm and 49.93%, respectively. The %Yield of the product and %Recovery of nickel were 43.8 and 98.66%, respectively.
