Abstract
Arsitektur, sebagai ruang hidup manusia, harus mampu belajar dari alam sebagai sistem kehidupan yang telah terbukti keberlanjutannya. Teori Permaculture memandang arsitektur sebagai bagian integral dari ekosistem yang mendukung keberlanjutan. Dalam perancangan ini, konsep permaculture diterapkan pada hunian kampung kota dengan tujuan menciptakan pemukiman yang hemat energi, memaksimalkan potensi lahan terbatas, memperhatikan komposisi penduduk yang pada akhirnya meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat. Dengan menggunakan force-based framework, perancangan ini mengadopsi hubungan alami dalam ekosistem, menjadikannya sebuah sistem siklus sumber daya mencakup fungsi elemen biologis untuk menghasilkan rancangan yang efisien, relevan dengan konteks lokal, dan meminimalkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan. Rancangan pada skala bangunan difokuskan pada skenario perbaikan bangunan eksisting, konsep rumah tumbuh, integrasi ruang, pengelompokan tipe bangunan, baseline design, material lokal, serta elemen bangunan yang mendukung sirkulasi energi dan keberlanjutan seperti area tanam, void, rain chain, rain water harvesting, area kerja, badukan, dan ventilasi silang. Sedangkan pada skala tapak, aspek zonasi, sirkulasi, dan budaya pengolahan lingkungan turut diperhitungkan sebagai sistem yang saling terhubung. Hasil rancangan menunjukkan bahwa prinsip permaculture dapat diadaptasi secara kontekstual dalam lingkungan kampung kota, menawarkan pendekatan arsitektur berkelanjutan yang responsif terhadap keterbatasan ruang, iklim tropis, dan dinamika sosial. Konsep ini berpotensi direplikasi di konteks serupa dengan penyesuaian terhadap karakter tapak dan budaya lokal.

Architecture, as a human living space, must learn from nature as a proven sustainable living system. Permaculture Theory views architecture as an integral part of an ecosystem that supports sustainability. In this design, permaculture concepts are applied to urban village housing, with the goal of creating energy-efficient settlements, maximizing the potential of limited land, and considering population composition, ultimately improving the community's quality of life.
Using a force-based framework, this design adopts the natural relationships within the ecosystem, transforming it into a resource-cycling system encompassing the functions of biological elements to produce a design that is efficient, relevant to the local context, and minimizes negative impacts on the environment. The design at the building scale focuses on scenarios for renovating existing buildings, the growing house concept, spatial integration, grouping building types, baseline design, local materials, and building elements that support energy circulation and sustainability, such as planting areas, voids, rain chains, rainwater harvesting, work areas, badukan (a type of open space), and cross-ventilation. Meanwhile, at the site scale, aspects of zoning, circulation, and environmental management culture are also considered as interconnected systems.
The results demonstrate that permaculture principles can be contextually adapted in urban kampung environments, offering a sustainable architectural approach that responds to limited space, tropical climates, and social dynamics. This concept has the potential to be replicated in similar contexts with adjustments to the site's characteristics and local culture.
