Abstract

Magang merupakan bagian penting dalam proses pendidikan mahasiswa tingkat akhir, khususnya di Departemen Statistika Bisnis Fakultas Vokasi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Program ini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai syarat akademik dengan bobot 14 SKS, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk mengaplikasikan ilmu statistika secara langsung di dunia kerja. Salah satu tempat pelaksanaan magang yang relevan adalah PT Filtrona Manufacturing Indonesia, perusahaan manufaktur filter rokok yang merupakan bagian dari Filtrona global. Melalui kegiatan magang di perusahaan tersebut, mahasiswa mendapatkan kesempatan untuk memahami proses bisnis, mengembangkan keterampilan teknis dan soft skill, serta menerapkan metode statistika dalam lingkungan industri yang nyata. Pengalaman ini menjadi bekal penting dalam mempersiapkan diri sebagai tenaga profesional yang kompeten dan siap menghadapi tantangan dunia kerja. Selama magang, penulis juga mengerjakan proyek analisis kapabilitas produk, Gage R&R, serta pembuatan form Process Control Plan sebagai penerapan nyata dari berbagai mata kuliah yang telah dipelajari.

Internships are an essential part of the educational journey for final-year students, especially in the Department of Business Statistics at the Vocational Faculty of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). This program not only serves as an academic requirement worth 14 credits but also provides a platform for applying statistical knowledge directly in the professional world. One relevant internship placement is PT Filtrona Manufacturing Indonesia, a cigarette filter manufacturing company that is part of the global Filtrona group. Through the internship at this company, students have the opportunity to understand business processes, develop both technical and soft skills, and apply statistical methods in a real industrial environment. This experience serves as a valuable foundation in preparing to become competent professionals ready to face the challenges of the workforce. During the internship, the author also worked on projects such as product capability analysis, Gage R&R, and the development of a Process Control Plan form, as practical applications of various courses previously studied.
