Abstract

The demand for cat litter continues to rise in line with the growing population of pet cats. The global cat litter market was estimated to reach USD 15.65 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.2% from 2024 to 2030. However, 81% of global cat litter products use bentonite or silica-based materials, which are not environmentally friendly and pose health risks to cats. This situation has driven increasing demand for eco-friendly cat litter products, which are projected to grow at the highest CAGR of 8.2% by 2030. However, the price of eco-friendly and cat-safe litter remains significantly high, creating a need for innovative new cat litter products that can compete in the market. Therefore, this study aims to: develop a new Flushable Cat Litter (FCL) product that meets consumer needs using the Lean Canvas approach, establish competitive quality criteria for the FCL innovation through the House of Quality (HoQ) method, and produce an innovative FCL product based on the analysis of Lean Canvas and HoQ. The research methodology involves consumer needs analysis, identification of quality criteria, and product development using Lean Canvas and HoQ. The expected outcome is the creation of a new innovative FCL product with competitive quality that meets consumer demand for an eco-friendly, effective, and practical cat litter solution.
